Denise Walking Guide Dog

The Earle Baum Center for the Blind focuses instruction in the following areas.

Assistive Technology

Evaluates a person's skills and needs, and offers individualized recommendations and training, including the use of adaptive computer hardware and software that enable full participation in today's world of electronic communication and information storage and retrieval.

Introduction to Vision Loss

For those with recent sight loss. Introduces information, techniques and equipment to promote an active life.

Living with Vision Loss

Designed to address an individual's emotional adjustment to sight loss.

Independent Living Skills

Teaches adaptive skills for cooking, hygiene, shopping, financial management, cleaning, clothing color matching, and more.

Orientation and Mobility

Teaches the physical and communications skills required to travel independently, safely and confidently through one's environment.

Braille Instruction

Reading and writing instruction in Braille. Practical use of Braille includes labeling such items as foods, files, clothing, games and more. Course content is based on individual needs.
