Activities and Events

Art History
Art History class meets on Tuesdays from 10am to noon in room 3. Sessions run for 10 weeks and begin every few months. Check with the front office for the next session. This class explores art through the ages using tactile art books, hands-on projects and discussion.

Book Club
Meets first Monday of every month, 12:30pm-3:00pm in room 4. Join the group, read the book (books on tape library and equipment available through the Library of Congress for free). Discuss the book and then watch the movie.

EBC Low Vision Group
Open to visually impaired seniors age 55 and up. Meets 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month from 11:00am-1:00pm in room 3. Instructor leads discussion, guest speakers visit, current events are discussed and there are opportunities for hands-on investigation of new visual aids.

Movie Club
Meets the 3rd Monday of each month from 11:00am-3:00pm in room 3.
Watch a described movie with the group.

Ukulele Class $
Ukulele is our most popular class and we are always looking for new and budding ukulele players. Each session is 10 weeks, with new sessions beginning regularly. Please call the front office for details.

Field Trips $

Instructor-led field trips are planned periodically and include:

  • Guided walks at Laguna Environmental Center
  • Ocean trips (lunch and beach)
  • Museums
  • LightHouse for the Blind (San Francisco)
  • And more...

Recreation and Exercise

Birding By Ear $
Birds, like humans, have their own unique language and learning it is an essential part of enjoying this wonderful outdoor experience. Watch for announcements of upcoming outings or call the front office.

Exercise and Fitness
Meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00-10:00am in room 3.
Instructor-led fitness class includes chair exercises and stretching, hand weights and use of exercise equipment.

Tai Chi $
Meets Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30pm in room 3. No pre-registration required for this instructor-led class. Call the front office for assistance or questions.

Tandem Bike Program $
Meets on Saturdays per the schedule. Rides are typically from 9:00am to noon.
Get details about the Tandem Bike Program here. Each rider (stoker) receives instruction on how to ride a tandem and will be paired with a trained leader (pilot). The rides are approximately 10-20 miles long, typically along country bike trails. The group often stops halfway to enjoy coffee, beverages and snacks. Pre-registration is required and can be done on the EBC website.

Tap Dance $
Meets Wednesdays, 1:00-2:00pm in room 3.
Instructor-led tap with music and choreography. Beginners welcome.

Yoga Class $
Meets every Wednesday from 2:15-3:30pm in room 3.
This is instructor-led, 10-week session and beginners are welcome.


Tech Club - Technology Users Group
Meets on the first Monday of the month from 11:00am-12:30pm in room 3. Discusses and demonstrates various technologies as they relate to persons with visual impairments. Topics include: computer access, cellphones and PDAs, note takers, and access services available through a standard phone line such as News Line and Tell Me. This is an instructor-led class where participants share ideas to help one another.

iPhone Training $
Available in group or one-on-one training sessions. Call the EBC office for more information.

iPhone Users Group
Meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month from 1:30-3:00pm in room 3.
Available in group or one-on-one training sessions. Call the EBC office for more information.

E-ssistant (Amazon Echo, Dot and Tap) Training $
Available in group or one-on-one training sessions. Call the EBC office for more information.

California Telephone Access Program
Will be at the Earle Baum Center October 27, 2017 from 9:00am-12:00pm. To get started, download an application from or call (800) 806-1191.
